A lot of us feel that Instagram became a ball and chain and something that has enslaved us. If you’re one of those then you may be sick and tired of feeling as though you’re obligated to capture every moment have your life or it may be that you’re just tired of seeing everyone trying to create a mirage of perfection. Many Instagram users juggle multiple accounts and if you’re one who does so then you probably get sick of waiting for those videos to load.
The good news is that it will only take a few clicks and a confirmation to delete your Instagram account. It will be imperative that you make sure it’s what you want to do because once you’ve completed the process the account is deleted permanently along with everything that was on that account including all the likes, comments, and follows along with the followers themselves. According to Instagram it can’t and will not reactivate the account if you were to change your mind over the coming days. They won’t even allow you or another person to sign up with the same username.
One option if you’re unsure is to use Instagram’s temporary deactivation feature. This is specifically designed to allow you to deactivate your account for a short period of time while being able to access it later. If, however, you’re absolutely sure you’re ready to delete it for good then here’s how to do so.
Step 1
Instagram doesn’t allow you to delete the account from the mobile app directly and this means you will have to go to the website. Since you cannot delete the account from your profile you’ll need to go to the website’s deletion page. You’ll have to be logged in and if you aren’t then you’ll have to enter your username and password. The website will not allow you to delete the account without being logged in.
Step 2
It’ll ask you to choose a reason why you want to leave. As part of the process, you will have to choose a reason to move to the next step. It might be that you feel you’re just too busy to continue using the app, you might have concerns about the data being gathered, or you may not like all of the ads that are being shown. If any of those fit your particular situation you can select them or just choose anyone to move on to the next step. Once you’ve entered your reason then it will require you to reenter your password.
Step 3
You are now ready to remove your account. It’s worth noting once more that at this point if you continue, your account will be deleted and there will be no way to reactivate it. Assuming that you are certain this is what you want then you will click on the permanently remove your account button. It’ll be found near the bottom. If by chance you want to delete another account you manage then you’ll have to log in with those credentials and repeat the process.
If your child or another family member has an Instagram account, it is not possible to ask Instagram to delete it for you. You will have to have the proper login credentials in order to go through the deletion process. Once you have received confirmation of the deletion there is nothing more you’ll need to do. Your account will have been removed from the network forever. It may feel a bit worrisome at first but you will quickly get past the feeling.
